A very unstable atmosphere will settle over Delmarva in the next few days as we are stuck on a rock and in a difficult place weather-wise. A massive dome of high pressure that will be baking the valley of the Ohio and Tennessee rivers will sit just to our west. An area of low pressure will extend just to the north and east into the Canadian Sea and will put us in the crosshairs of some complex showers and thunderstorms in the coming days.
Today will bring a couple more rounds of showers and storms as the altitude begins to creep east and push us back into the ring of fire. The first round of showers and storms will be in the morning hours of a complex of storms forming in Canada and descending through Delmarva beginning around sunrise with this chance of rain continuing throughout the morning. We should get things dry through the afternoon and evening hours before another round of showers and storms is possible as the real cold front moves into the region. The front doesn’t clear until noon Friday. This means it will be hot for one more day to end the week with highs in the 90s and humidity will drop throughout the day. As the front moves through Friday, another round of some showers and thunderstorms will be possible in the afternoon and evening. The threat of storms is greater the farther south you live in Delmarva.
The weekend forecast seems to be the best Father’s Day forecast I’ve ever put together with temperatures in the 70’s and 80’s with sunshine and low humidity. The heat dome is accumulating to our west again next week with unsettled showers and thunderstorms possible for Tuesday and Wednesday of next week.
