How is the USA Today Network SEC All-Sports award calculated?
Points are awarded based on the number of teams competing in a sport (e.g., 14 teams compete in SEC baseball, earning the winner 14 points, second earning 13, etc. Four teams compete in equestrian, awarding four points to the winner). A show’s total points are divided by the total number of teams competing on the school’s athletic fields, and that quotient ranks the teams in the USA Today Network SEC’s final all-sports standings. Cross country, indoor and outdoor track and field sports are combined. The outdoor track final of a program makes up one half, while the remaining two quarters are based on the cross country and indoor finals.
