today’s contest
Today is the first home game of the 2022 season and the third Ohio Athletic Conference game for the Baldwin Wallace University football team as it hosts Ohio Northern University on Father’s Day and the Family. Last week, BW fell to rival John Carroll University by a final score of 21-7. The Ohio Northern fell to 22nd-ranked nationally ranked University of Heidelberg by a final score of 37-3.

The series
BW and Ohio Northern meet for the 47th time on the grid. The Yellow Jackets have a 31-14-1 lead in the all-time series. BW has won eight of the last 13 meetings. The Polar Bears won the first meeting in 1923 with a final score of 20-13.

BW Head Coach Jim Hilvert
Hilvert is in his sixth season in BW and has a record of 30-14 and an OAC roster of 24-13. He is 97-39 in his 14th season overall and is 2-2 against the Ohio Northern.

Northern Ohio head coach Dean Paul
Paul is in his 19th season at Ohio Northern and is the all-time winningest coach in program history with a 115-64 record. He has an OAC mark of 97-53. Paul is 155-76 in 24 seasons overall and is 6-11 against BW.

BW had 17 points on 213 rushing yards, 122 passing yards, and 335 total yards. Ohio Northern scored 14 points on 159 receiving yards, 92 rushing yards and 251 total yards.

In week three of the season, BW scored seven points on 222 passing yards and 120 rushing yards for 342 yards of total offense. John Carroll had 21 points on 157 receiving yards and 157 rushing yards for 314 yards of total offense.

Offensively, junior quarterback joey marousek (North Royalton) has completed 30 of 58 passes for 358 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions. Junior All-OAC Runner Jon Murray, Jr. (Cincinnati/Withrow) is second in the OAC with 291 yards on 57 carries. Murray Jr. he is also tied for third in the OAC with two rushing touchdowns. senior catcher Elijah Arnett (Akron/Woodridge) leads the receiving corps with 136 yards on 11 catches. Defensively, senior linebacker levasseur mason (Panama City, Fla./South Walton) leads the team and is tied for second in the OAC with 33 tackles. senior linebacker Dillon O’Donoghue (Canonsburg, Pa./Cannon-McMillian) and junior linebacker Vontae Jackson (Cleveland/John Hay) are tied for second on the team and seventh in the OAC with 25 stops.

In week three of the season, the Ohio Northern scored three points with 172 receiving yards, 112 rushing yards, and 289 total yards. Heidelberg had 37 points on 230 rushing yards, 94 passing yards, and 324 total yards.

Northern Ohio Leaders
Offensively, All-OAC academic senior quarterback Trevor McConnell has completed 49 of 98 passes for 509 yards with four touchdowns and seven interceptions. Senior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC running back Brock Martin leads the running game as he has rushed for 173 yards on 59 carries. Senior All-OAC wide out Austin Eick leads the passing attack with 17 catches for 236 yards and a touchdown. Defensively, second-year defensive back Dalton Tjong leads the team with 27 tackles and four breakups.

Running towards the records
Murray Jr.. is making its way into the record books in BW. The All-OAC running back is already the all-time leading rusher with 3,006 yards and 610 carries. Murray Jr. he needs three touchdowns to set his career touchdown record of 40.

44th Lee Tressel Shrine Classic
BW will host the 44th Lee Tressel Shrine Classic on Saturday, October 15 when the Yellow Jackets host Muskingum University at 1:30 pm Partial game proceeds will go to Shriners Burn and Orthopedic Hospitals.

hall of fame game
BW will induct the 2022 members of its Athletics Alumni Association Hall of Fame on Saturday, October 15, before the Ohio Athletic Conference game between BW and Muskingum University at 1:30 p.m. Members newer ones will be introduced to the Finnie Stadium crowd between the first and second quarters.

Community day and return home
BW will host its Community Day and Homecoming on the same day at a Bold and Gold Festival on Saturday, October 22 when the Yellow Jackets host Otterbein University at 2:00 p.m.
