Heat advisories continue today for the entire state of Alabama

Above average temperatures are again in the forecast for all of Alabama today.

The National Weather Service has plastered the entire state with heat advisories, and some of them will extend into Thursday as well.

Air temperatures are expected to climb into the mid 90s today. Combine that with high humidity values ​​and that will send the heat index, or “feel” temperature, into the triple digits. Some areas could see heat index values ​​as high as 110 to 112 degrees, according to forecasters.

Wednesday highs

Another hot day is forecast for Alabama.

Today there is also a chance of rain and some storms. NOAA’s Storm Prediction Center has most of Alabama at a level 2 of 5 (or slight) risk for severe weather this afternoon through tonight.

Scattered strong to severe thunderstorms will be possible starting this afternoon in the yellow areas. Isolated severe thunderstorms will be possible in the dark green areas. Not everyone will have a storm, but the strongest ones could have wind gusts up to 60 mph and hail.

The strongest storms could have wind gusts up to 60 mph, hail, heavy rain and lightning.

NORTHERN ALABAMA

*Heat advisory in effect until 7 p.m. Thursday.

* The counties in the notice are Lauderdale, Colbert, Franklin, Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, Morgan, Marshall, Jackson, DeKalb and Cullman.

* Heat index values ​​up to 107 degrees.

CENTRAL ALABAMA

*Heat advisory in effect until 7 p.m. Thursday.

*Counties on notice are Marion, Lamar, Fayette, Winston, Walker, Blount, Etowah, Calhoun, Cherokee, Cleburne, Pickens, Tuscaloosa, Jefferson, Shelby, St. Clair, Talladega, Clay, Randolph, Sumter, Greene, Hale , Perry, Bibb, Chilton, Coosa, Tallapoosa, Chambers, Marengo, Dallas, Autauga, Lowndes, Elmore, Montgomery, Macon, Bullock, Lee, Russell, Pike, and Barbour.

* Heat index values ​​104 to 109 each afternoon.

SOUTHWESTERN ALABAMA

*Heat advisory from 11 am to 7 pm on Wednesdays.

*Counties in the notice are Choctaw, Washington, Clarke, Wilcox, Monroe, Conecuh, Butler, Crenshaw, Escambia, Covington, Mobile, and Baldwin.

* A heat index between 105 and 111 degrees is expected.

SOUTHEAST ALABAMA

*Heat advisory from 11 am to 7 pm on Wednesdays.

* The counties in the notice are Coffee, Dale, Geneva, Henry and Houston.

* Heat index values ​​between 107 and 112 are expected.
