GRMC’s Elaine Bennett says families and individuals have until 4 pm Friday to sign up for Saturday’s distribution.

“I would encourage anyone in need of food to register online and if for any reason you are unable to do so, just stop by because we don’t want anyone to go without food, especially when we have it available this weekend. Bennett said.

This weekend’s drive will take place from 9-10 am in the rear parking lot of GRMC. Vehicles are asked to line up toward the rear of the Walmart store on Ashby Street.

Bennett says that the monthly distributions have been vital in helping those who need a little food assistance. She says that these efforts have really required a team.

“The Pop Up distribution is done through the San Antonio Food Bank, while the Mega Distributions are done through the New Braunfels Food Bank and that is the ddifference in the website that you’re signing up for so it’s actually through the San Antonio Food Bank and these are the ones that have been provided for the Seguin area once a month and this has been going on and It’s really been a great collaboration with the local churches, First Baptist, Faith Lutheran and then Caterpillar and the hospital, so between all of those organizations, the food bank has enabled our community to have a distribution once a month,” Bennett said. ..

Bennett says this weekend’s drive is the first of two distributions on this year’s calendar to be hosted by GRMC. She says that whether it’s raising funds or helping to load vehicles, GRMC employees are there to help.

“The way GRMC engages with the community, our employees, we have an annual Bowl-A-Thon and the funds we raise provide a donation to the San Antonio Food Bank and in return we receive distributions so this is our way to give back and our employees are working to serve the community we serve,” said Bennett.
